When, Why and How I've changed my life

Bonjour,

It's been a month since I made the best decision of my life: quit my job to do what I love.

The idea? Spend about half of my time freelancing, and the other half on side projects, for at least a year.

The goal ? To become completely independent.

How did that happen?

I don't have much work experience yet: I graduated from HETIC a little less than a year ago. I had the chance to work for two companies (apart from my freelance missions of the last three years): Yogosha and Kiss my.

Everything went very well in both cases, and I have absolutely no regrets: the atmosphere was great, the teams were united, and I learned a lot. But I wasn't completely satisfied.

I decided to stop everything at the end of August 2020, and to move to a new city (goodbye Paris!). Since then, I work for the same client a dozen of days a month, and it should last until the end of the year at least 🎉 !

On the side projects side, I've slowly continued Uneed by adding a "design" list, and I've started a new one : Boucmark, a bookmark manager that should be up and running by the end of the year !

Why did I do that, besides during the covid thing?

I've always spent a lot of my time doing side projects, and I'm very interested in the recent "makers" trend! Earning a living by working for myself on a product I like, I can't imagine anything better.

I left my first permanent contract in the middle of the covid crisis, and the second one when my financial health was not so good: a risky bet! With a fairly large student loan to pay back, little money on the side and a global health crisis, it was clearly not the choice that my family and friends recommended to me.

But you have to know how to take advantage of life, and especially of this incredible environment rich in opportunities: the web!

Today everything is fine, even if it is obvious that I will need more time to find a good balance between my personal life, freelance and side projects.

I'll be happy to discuss with you about this subject, don't hesitate to contact me via twitter or by mail :)
