Oh boy, this post is hard to write, Iām tired AF š
It's 6 PM here in Vietnam as I write these lines, and I'm waking up from a nap I shouldn't have taken haha.
I've spent a total of 26 hours in transit since yesterday morning (bus, train, plane, taxi), I'm happy to have finally arrived, but I underestimated the jet lag: 6 hours' difference is a lot, and I've actually barely slept in 48 hours.
My first flight from Paris to Hong Kong wasn't great, I was sitting next to a young guy craving cigarettes who wouldn't stop moving, coughing, sniffling, and arguing with pretty much everyone around him haha. It completely prevented me from sleeping š¬. The rest of the trips were much better, and I finally landed in Da Nang around 11 AM this morning.
The first thing that struck me: the humidity level in the air is incredible, the air is so heavy, I feel like I'm under a greenhouse š!
The second thing that struck me: everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Whether it's the taxi driver or the people at the reception, or the hotel bar, everyone is very nice!
I spent a few hours chilling / reading / working / eating by the pool while waiting for my room to be ready:
I chatted quite a bit with the two women working at the bar (that's how I learned to say hello and goodbye in Vietnamese), it was nice š!
Then finally, I got access to my room around 2 PM:
Not bad, right, for ā¬30 a night??
Then a few minutes later, I felt an immense wave of fatigue, incredible šš!
I told myself "no no I shouldn't sleep this early," so I went for a walk to the villa where the hacker residency will take place: 20 minutes round trip, that wakes you up!
The route is pretty nice, it runs along the sea! I have to admit that the beach doesn't seem very clean though š¬, I don't know if it's the same all along or not.
I eventually arrived at the villa:
It doesn't look at all like the AI-generated photos haha, but honestly it still looks incredible.
I can't wait to see the inside tomorrow!
You know the rest of the story: I got back to the hotel, fell asleep, woke up tired. I could barely work ~45 minutes š.
Anyway, I'm going to go grab a quick bite to eat, and probably sleep for 10 or 12 hours straight haha!
Tomorrow I have a big day: I'm finally meeting all the other participants of the hacker residency, I'm super excited!! I hope my English will be better than today, I feel like I've regressed š¬.
Alright, see you tomorrow šš»
